The Knight-era core at launch
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is represented by a deliberately bounded Day-One roster: Egg, Ser Duncan the Tall, Maekar Targaryen, Baelor Targaryen, Aerion Targaryen, and Daeron Targaryen. HBO's official production material names those screen characters. The released season-one material supports Maekar as father of Egg, Aerion, and Daeron, so those direct parent claims can safely power the relationship engine after the season-one reveal point.
Dunk appears in the same work projection because he is the central knight and Egg's companion, but friendship and mentorship are not family facts in the frozen model. He therefore does not receive a fake parent, guardian, or union edge merely to attach him to the genealogy. The tree can contain a useful character with no family line when that is the honest representation of the current evidence.
What the screen tree does not assume
The product specification mentions the generation around Egg, Baelor, Maekar, and Aemon. The current official cast and episode evidence available to this audit does not support inserting Aemon or a complete older parent chain as a confirmed Day-One relationship. That gap is visible in the product instead of being silently completed from the novellas, companion material, or fan-maintained genealogy.
Baelor is also kept as a verified Knight-era Targaryen character without a manufactured biological link in this dataset revision. A future evidence batch can add the missing parent facts when an official production reference or explicit screen source supports them. Until then, a comparison involving Baelor may correctly return no confirmed path. 'No path' is a data boundary, not a software failure.
Egg's spoiler-aware identity
Egg is stored with an always-safe display label so a viewer can use the tool from the beginning of the series. His fuller Targaryen identity is kept as a separate CharacterFact with its own evidence and reveal rule. This matters because a character may be visible while a title, House membership, identity, parent claim, or union remains protected. One coarse hidden-character switch would either reveal too much or make the main character impossible to search.
With Spoiler Shield on and progress unknown, the protected Knight facts fail closed. After season one is selected, Maekar's direct child relationships become eligible and sibling relationships among the children can be derived only where the parent data is sufficient. The URL state and local progress storage work the same way as on the other series pages, but each work keeps its own viewing progress.
Using the Knight family tree
This is a relationship-first guide, not a general plot encyclopedia. The interactive tree sits before the long explanation because most visitors arrive with a practical question: find a person, see the confirmed parents or children, and understand the path to somebody else. Select any node to keep exploring inside the same tree. The character panel separates parents, children, siblings, partners, and dragon bonds so the useful answer is not buried inside a biography.
Every confirmed line in the tree comes from the site's structured screen-canon dataset. Parent claims are stored once and other labels, including sibling, grandparent, aunt or uncle, cousin, ancestor, and descendant, are calculated from those claims. A marriage junction helps the diagram stay readable but does not replace the underlying parent evidence. When the supported screen material does not establish a link strongly enough, the site leaves it unconfirmed instead of completing the branch from book knowledge.
Spoiler Shield is optional and starts off. When it is enabled, progress is saved separately for Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Protected identities, parentage, unions, and status details can disappear independently. If progress is unknown, the filter fails closed: it asks for progress rather than assuming every season has been watched. Shared URLs restore the selected character and useful filters while clean page URLs remain the canonical versions for search engines.
